As Christmas husbands pack their bags by ChineduHardy Nwadike
I have always maintained that should life be a football league, men and women will never play in one. Even though our desires are connected, they are never the same.
Christmas is here again and most especially, our dear December is half spent and before you know it, it will be another January characterized with New Year resolutions and so on.
There is always something with December and Christmas aside the fun, gifts, rice and chicken.
People meet people and both good and bad things happen. Lots of expectations are met and lots of dreams are crushed and sent to the gutters.
With all these going on, where will you be found? It is a complex emotional web [kind of food web], and we all are contributing to it. Maybe, because I am a guy, I might not really understand the kind of prayers sisters say at night; the kinds of needs they fight just to stay with dignity and remain a virtuous woman. But I know how tough it can be, because I am also a human even though not a woman.
Somewhere in Malaysia, USA, Canada and even Ghana, a single guy is packing his bags with the expectations of going home to the village, finding a wife, finalizing all formalities and probably getting back to base in February.
Somewhere in Nigeria, another single guy is making plans on how he will raise money and get married to a girl sometime in November or August 2016. What a long term dream.
Who is the first to pack?
I know some guys will be reading this, and I want them to understand that in 2015, there’s nothing like infidelity between a boyfriend and a girlfriend. If you think you are secured by her love, just watch what will happen when a husband will come from nowhere with high
recommendation and marry her.
Every sister is always packed up to move. She just needs to find what she is looking for and that is all.
Do we throw blames?
Blame who na? I remember when a girl I was dating told me she was getting married and it was beyond her powers. What did I do? Nothing. I just let her and not that I had in bondage, but the right thing to say is I moved on.
Are we supposed to blame the sisters for getting married to a serious and rich man? I will just say no. there is nothing like blames here. A free girl just made a free choice, even though relatives in most cases play a huge role in helping her decide.
And the Nigerian parents
Dear sisters, I am so sorry I am talking about men too much today, but I want to proffer a potential heart mending solution to our brothers whom most of you will be leaving. You know it’s not easy to see the hair you paid for attracting another guy.
When Nigerian parents with kids abroad see you and be nice to you, don’t worry, they have
another plan for their sons. At times they even offer you to more than one of them until one eventually accepts to pick you. But that’s not bad at all.
They are all warming up to help in breaking the hearts of the other young man who is not their son. But life is like that because ‘for every win, someone must fail’ [Whitney Houston].
Who will accept?
Because it has become a trend, a high percentage of the single sisters are usually prepared for this. They want to go home looking good to attract the best young men. But wait! What is life about if not attraction and repulsion?
If there is love at first sight, why can’t there be husband and wife at first sight? Some people complain that the Christmas husband thing is always too sudden and none of them care to get to know each other.
Even pastors are proud to say this: “After praying for her, two weeks later, a man called from USA and said he wants to marry her. And before two months they wedded and she is now in USA with him”. What a miracle.
What happens after?
I am of the opinion that people should start inviting friends to their divorce parties and not just break up in silence and let people know maybe a year after. They should also provide food and drinks at the events.
Because people are not taking time to understand their real sides, the rate of divorce is increasing in the country and no one is showing concern.
My advice is simple. If you want to hook up with one of the Christmas husbands, just understand that it is not just about the marriage and posting classy pictures on Facebook, it is about staying married.
So far, I wish us all the best as we welcome the Christmas husband.
Yours Faithfully,

I respect my instincts..Do you???
Instincts are responses and actions that you were born with, things you did not have to learn. i have grown to trust my instincts when a situation arises, they seldom lead me astray. If something or someone is making you uncomfortable, i always listen to the feeling. I have had dealings with a person that i simply felt was untrustworthy, on the one hand, my instincts were telling me to avoid contact with this person, but my logical self decided that it was ridiculous to feel this way, and i went right ahead to have dealings with this person. Later, it turned out that my instincts were right, after the pain came the experience. Guess we sometimes learn after a bitter experience.
Learn How To Trust Your Instincts:
If you have decided that you have been tuning out your instinctive and intuitive side, you may want to take some time to learn how to trust your instincts again. You will probably find that the clutter of your conscious thoughts is just crowding out your subconscious, instinctive mind, but there are ways to help you reconnect to make your instincts more effective in everyday life.
• Meditation is one of the best ways to follow when you seek to trust your instincts more. Meditation stimulates the right side of your brain, which is the side that deals with creativity and spontaneity, as well as instincts. Letting meditation augment the right side of the brain will make your instinctive responses stronger, and also make it more likely that you will follow these responses when the need arises.
• Going with your first response to a situation is a good way to trust your instincts. You will notice that children, when presented with a choice, will usually just snatch something up – they are relying on an instinctive reaction to guide them. If you think back over your life, you will probably realize that most of the things that you chose first, actually as a result of instinct, turned out to be the best choice.
• Your ‘Sixth Sense’ is probably actually your instincts. When this sense calls out to you not to go somewhere or do something, it is probably that your subconscious mind has picked up danger signals and your instinct is screaming at you to pay attention. Paying attention to your sixth sense is another good way to trust your instincts.
Learning to trust your instincts more is a way not only to avoid various troubles, but also a way to make better decisions. Thinking too much about something makes us a hamster on a wheel, moving fast but getting nowhere. Trusting your instincts will often let you cut right to what’s important and needy.
I have had to follow my instincts or my inner voice like I would love to call it and it had saved me from so many situations and helped me walk out of some would-be problematic beings. trust your instincts for once and see how it works for you.
Happy holidays Fam.

My Mind; My Thoughts....
I don't know if it's just me o, but my mind runs round every second. I get to think of the weirdest thing that can happen. I'm in church and just when I need to listen to the sermon, there goes the struggle, different thoughts of how I can try a new meal, try a different flavour for my Chapman, I imagine the priest with a wife and kids, I begin to match up clothes in my wardrobe, I begin to read meaning to every damn thing someone told me some days ago, I start to create response to an un imaginary conversation.
The struggle to stay sane sometimes sha, it can be really difficult biko. God help me, but I know I can't be the only one *smiles*
CONFESS IT by Gift Jonah
It is one thing to know the word, it is another thing to confess it. When you begin to confess the word of God daily, it helps to correct your negative thinking and those words gradually begin to manifest in your life because the bible says you will have what you say.
Meditating and confessing the word gives you the confidence to face your fears and come out victorious. The bible says that the power of life and death lies in our tongue. So the more you keep confessing positive words like I am the head not the tail, I am the light of the world, I am the salt of the earth, I can do all things through Christ Jesus, I am the apple of God’s eye etc.… is the more you put God to work on your behalf so as to attain success.
As the year draws to an end, I want you to begin the New Year with the right attitude in all you do, believe in yourself that you have all it takes to succeed and finally confess your victory always.
The Hair Stylist- Precious
My name is Precious, i,am a stylist. I actually started styling some years ago and I started leaning how to make hair in a salon in ikorodu, I spent roughly 1year and 3months before I went over to Bobby's Signature on Allen Avenue, where I went professional on styling. On completion of my training, I moved to stand on my own in my "little-big" way.
I intend to be great in this. To me, Styling is an expression, it creates that beauty, it brings out the "You", it's one of the most fascinating things: watching people look beautiful and giving them the: Chick look, classy look, boss look, provocative look, "I am in my teens" look, etc. I couldn't have wanted any better. In all of these, by ask questions and seek opinion from people (my customers and people who have been in the business) and of course I pray for the wisdom of God to lead me through the right path.
I wish to be one of the best stylists ever with hard work and prayers. My dream is to be an international stylist, so I can play with the hands and create that expression for models both local and international.
I believe that whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well.

NAT 202 (a)
Hi Ladies, hope the week's coming good. How's the weather? :)
Speak of the weather, to begin this article I'll highlight the most important point to note for hair this season of harmattan before delving into our major discussion.
MY MANES AND THE WEATHER:
HONEY and/or GLYCERIN is a 'NO-NO this season. Please do not include them in any of your treatments
REASONS
Honey and Glycerin are humectants. Humectants absorb moisture from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. Normally during the wet season, humectants absorb moisture from the atmosphere to our hair as the moisture content of the atmosphere in this period is high but during the dry season, the reverse is the case. So, do scrap out these 2 ingredients from all treatments this period.
Now to the topic at hand. Still on the hair regimen and things to consider when creating a hair regimen;
HAIR ELASTICITY
This is the ability of the hair to return to its original length after being stretched without breaking.
Hair Elasticity can high or low.
HIGH ELASTICITY HAIR
Manes with this elasticity type are safe. This hair stretches more than 50% of its original length especially when wet and returns to its normal state without breaking.
Basically, the low elasticity hair requires more attention.
LOW ELASTICITY HAIR
Hair with low elasticity breaks when stretched or just remains in a stretched out shape without returning to its original form.
SIGNS OF LOW ELASTICITY.
1)Hair feels spongy when wet
2)Hair is limp and shapeless
3)Increased frizz
4)Hair has trouble holding styles or curls
CAUSES OF LOW ELASTICITY.
1.The of use and excessive amount of force when combing or styling your hair, you can exceed the yield strength of your strands so they no longer bounce back. Think of this like stretching an elastic band so hard or so often that it no longer returns to it’s original size and ends up shapeless and limp.
2. Rough handling the hair when wet is not advised. Its important to note that hair stretches much more when wet. This makes it especially easy to exceed the stretching ability of hair and permanently reduce elasticity of wet hair. Always be extra gentle on fragile, wet hair.
3. Moisture-deprivation; Without getting too technical, hydrogen bonds play a big part in keeping your hair elastic. If there isn’t enough moisture in the hair shaft, hydrogen bonding will be decreased meaning lower elasticity. So you want to keep your hair moisturised.
4. Protein-deficiency; Preserving the protein structure of the hair is also important to keeping the hair elastic. So keeping the correct balance between protein and moisture is key
5. Over-processing like excess heat, colouring, highlights, relaxers, perms and other chemical treatments can all lead to low elasticity. These are pretty much to blame for a great deal of hair troubles.
HOW TO IMPROVE HAIR ELASTICITY
1.Deep conditioning. For best deep conditioning, allow conditioner to sit for 45mins
2.Moisturising and Sealing with oil: If your hair is feeling stiff, brittle, or snaps easily when pulled, try increasing your use of moisturising products
3.The use of protein treatments: If your hair is overly mushy, soft, and stretchy, try adding protein-heavy products to your routine
4.Pre-shampoo treatment with coconut oil can help prevent hygral fatigue, which is damage caused by the shrinking and swelling of the hair as it goes from being wet to dry
6.The best, and simplest, advice is to be gentle with your strands. Especially when they're wet
HOW TO TEST YOUR HAIR ELASTICITY
Here is a simple way of testing your hair elasticity
1.Take a single strand of hair and hold the ends between the finger and thumb of each hand.
2.Slowly stretch the strand of hair
3.The further your hair strands can stretch without breaking, the more or high in elastic they are. If your hair has low elasticity, it will break easily and quickly when stretching.

A Call For Help
Hi Fam, Happy Sunday. Please read through and show a little kindness to Akuwa. She needs our help. May this season bring joy, love, peace and prosperity. God bless you. Don't forget to also say a prayer for her each day.
Akuwa has been sick for a long time now, and was diagnosed with Umbilical Hernia and Liver Failure. She requires liver transplant as well as umbilical surgery to correct the swelling..I thank God that her brother has agreed to donate (a part of) his liver, so she will be traveling with him as well as one more person who will look after the two of them after they have been operated on. The total amount for the expenses is 55,000 US Dollars; this is inclusive of their accommodation as well as air tickets and travel arrangements. Akuwa is earnestly trying to make ends meet, as some of us might have noticed her merchandise on her facebook wall. She too is in her own little way sourcing to raise funds for her operation. The latest update on her trip to India: She can't be cut opened twice for the two surgeries within very short breaks, the doctors advised it's better to have the two surgeries done at the same time.
Akwua has till Jan 15th to get these surgeries done. As at the last time she went to India, the doctors told her that her liver is below 5% performance. Truth is, Akuwa has less than 1month to perform the surgeries for the avoidance of irreversible damages. Akuwa has also permitted us to share her pics as well. Please give as much as you can, God bless you as you do so.
