The Headies and the drama

I am a true fan of good music, be it street or "indoor'. For the first time, I dedicated my night to watch the Headies 2015/2016. I wasn't impressed with the red carpet, I think we sometimes play away our seriousness, in a bid to add some live or do a little cracking up, we mess up the whole idea, talk so much, loose the essence of the "moment" on the red carpet. I am so sure I am not totally funny-proof. A little joke here and there,Yes, but a prolonged speech, continuous movement for a presenter, I would have also preferred a "Hip" clothing for the presenter, would have appeared; smart and chicky. Oh, the camera on the red carpet, Chukwu nna.

Fast forward to few things that made my night, the new act-Abuchi Eze who used the local flute (Uja) on Phyno's connect, that was new and interesting, Vector's short piece on receiving his award. Kudos to the organisers for recognising TuBaba himself, well deserved.
There were times when no one was on stage, no one saying a word, silence, we had to wait for minutes before something came up. #sighs

I loved that Aramide got an award. Eva's entrance was dramatically interesting and then the proposal, not totally bad but no one made reference to that on stage, I expected the hosts to talk about it and let the crowd be involved in it. It looked untrue to some.
And the Bovi's-Denrele's act tho,nawa. Wasn't sure if bringing up Basket Mouth-Freeze's issue was necessary. There were a lot of drama that wasn't relevant. Leave the script at home and get on to other relevant matter.

I decided to marry my bed by past 2 biko, the delays were tiring, unaware that there was a better drama which was to be displayed by Don Jazzy and Baddosneh. Two great guys, I love but....taking it outside wasn't so much of a brilliant idea. Lil Kesh worked hard, Reekado played his own part. Yes, Lil Kesh had more hit songs, no contest but common..the tweet fight was so uncalled for, the swear words were not necessary. While we all try to analyse this, someone somewhere, Mr. Vic O, is apologising to fans for not being nominated for Headies, saying he is and International act, and so Jay Z and Kanye West can't be nominated for such 'cos they are all International stars. He also promises his fans that he would be dropping 2 hot singles, first which will be "RIP FALZ THE BAD GUY" and "LET THERE BE PEACE AND UNITY,DON JAZZY/OLAMIDE"....On a lighter note, he just reduced the tension.

In all of these, I pray Don Jazzy remains silent, while we wait for Bovi and Freeze. And also praying that Phyno doesn't get involved.
