Two sides of a coin!
I once watched a duck streaming effortlessly down the lake, I once saw a fish camouflage -and swim calmly to avoid attracting its predator-to get out of danger, I once observed a woman give her best at work.
I also remember wondering why on earth this duck moved so slow, why this fish wouldn't just make a run for it, why this woman would make such silly mistake(when she does).
We rebuke people-sometimes within us- as to why they can't be this way or that way, have you really ever considered the fact that the other person might have it worse than you do?
You board a cab/tricycle/bus/bike, the driver delays in giving your change and you don't hesitate to give him a load of it: Your child slowly gets ready for school then makes you get to work late...a million examples we can think of...and our first reaction is a selfish one.
People go through situations we know nothing about: that cabbie who delayed might have at that moment been consumed with his own grief, why not kindly bring him out of his reverie? your child probably has a problem he's been struggling to share with you, why not notice his slow pace and gently push him on.
As humans, we tend to be selfish. We need to try putting others before ourselves for but a millisecond. Put yourself in their situation, understand what pain others go through. Gradually we realise we wouldn't be so quick to rebuke, to judge, to chastise. We would learn to criticise constructively, to hold the next person's hand in progress and to develop the spirit of humility.
Remember, the duck streaming slowly is paddling furiously underwater, the fish in a camouflage and steady motion is battling with fear of its predator and the woman giving her best is struggling with family problems.
Be kind, slow to judge and quick to consider.
